Are You A Preppie?
While reading up at Heavy Tweed Jacket, I ran across this poster Tom Shadyac (director of numerous comedies including Evan Almighty and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective) created in 1979 and without question, had to bring it to your attention. Although satirical in nature, there are key elements here that should be picked up on—"flood level pants" being my personal dogma.

Ah, thank you, it was as I expected. Most preppies, or well dressed men over all, in Sweden got the very same issue!

Frederik—Due to the satirical nature of this poster, everything here is poking fun of the preppie subculture. As Stephen B points out, it is indeed a facetious way to point out that prep style isn’t particularly attractive to women outside the prep set (traditionally, most preppie women adhered to an asexual approach in their dress).

This was a take-off of the “Are You a Nerd?” poster. I probably still have one of these somewhere (because preppies never throw anything away) - which dates me as Prep Persona #4 or older from the Official Preppie Handbook.
