    Music & Books

Discovery is the preppy love child of Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij and Ra Ra Riot’s Wes Miles. Although the band’s music borrows from the duo’s original outfits, they proffer a blend of glitchy synth-pop and Auto-Tuned R&B. With a cover of Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back,” LP is an essential addition to your Summer playlist.

I’m a little behind on posting this but to my credit, I have been enjoying them since the day their album dropped. Carby is such a fun song with Ezra on vocals.  Although Discovery isn’t a relatively “new” discovery to tastehunters like ourselves, they are relatively still unknown to most of my readers.  They are featured here mainly because of their marriage between prep style and good music…not because they dropped a debut album. I’m looking forward to Vampire Weekend’s Contra album in January.

Yeah, that “Orange Shirt” song is pretty sweet.
