Short-Sided to Suit
Shorts have a bad rap for being too casual. That’s unfortunate since seersucker and gingham silhouettes easily lend themselves to Summer Formal–a look epitomized by WASP society some 60 years ago. Is there anything more irreverent than wearing shorts as formal wear? Not really. This look may have been part of trad conformity in the 1950’s, but today the stigma attached to pulling on your shorts is one of throwing caution to the wind. Go sock-less in lieu of hosiery for a modern twist on the WASP classic.

Pair a bow tie with the shorts suit or update it with a tie in a trooper tuck (tucking your tie into the first two buttons of your shirt).
