    James—The key to finding “soft and faded stripes” is to look for oxford cloth shirting.  Button down collar, locker loop and chest pocket are key.  You can pick up a university stripe oxford button down at the following prep staples in addition to a few new upstarts.

    • Polo (slim-custom fit)
    • Rugby
    • Brooks Brothers (extra slim fit)
    • Taylor Stitch
    • L.L. Bean

    Where can you get something with soft and faded stripes like this? I realize that a lot of the effect is due to the photography, but all the striped shirts I see are essentially dress shirts.
