Proud of AEV for putting it out there in his own style. Not one of these looks were styled for or different from what he normally wears.

The vintage stand ups weren’t highlighted, but just as hot.

All y’all should take note, this is how it is done.

@Thad - I assume you’re joking re: my belt buckle…..not only do I not own a single VVines item, this buckle is over 25 years old (signed and dated as such), and was bought by me at a shop in CT….

I love the Vineyard Vines belt buckle, AEV.

This one wins the week for me. That belt buckle is beyond amazing. Great shoes, great shirt, and those shorts look a lot like a Rugby pair that I have ;)

@Timothy Patrick J. - brooksbrothers.com has numerous madras shirt styles and fits….this one is a Brook Bros. slim fit from a few seasons ago.

Again, where do you find these madras shirts? I have looked everywhere. Polo has none on there page and Dillards only makes them in “Big N Tall”........

The looks got better as tge week moved on. AEV, you are a genuine article, as well as a good sport. Really love the red pants. You are a fan of the 3/4? Cuff, saw it and noted a couple of times

AEV puts his money where his mouth is.  He looks fresh to death in all these shots.  And nice BB madras, sir.  I’ve got the same one.

Great look. Covet the belt/buckle. The collar looks long - and that’s a good thing.

Ha, that belt!  Quite phallic, or suggestive at the very least.  Well played.

Cheers to AEV for being a good sport and giving us a week of solid (and realistic) prep looks.

Fantastic belt buckle. Props to AEV for pulling off a great week of looks. And I heard you were an excellent host in the District. Keep up the great work, F.E. For the next reader that dares to model, AEV has raised the bar.

@FEC - Thanks for a great week; it was fun and your photos turned out great. It was terrific meeting you and hanging out a bit in DC.

Thanks to all who left compliments and constructive criticism (there actually was drips and drabs of it…). This week was fun, humbling, and somewhat predictable (I did, I suppose, “ask for it”...). Until next week, AEV

Tommy V. left a comment on 5/13/2011 at 10:29 AM:

This is a classic look although I don’t like how large the belt buckle is. Having said that, all of AEV’s looks this week have been solid and I could definitely see myself wearing any of them. Cheers to Fred and AEV for this week’s shots.

dan left a comment on 5/13/2011 at 10:19 AM:

Great shots, Fred and a tip of the hat to Mr. AEV!  Well done, sir.

Kiel James Patrick left a comment on 5/13/2011 at 10:15 AM:

The story of the whale swallowing Jonah, though a whale is large enough to do it, borders greatly on the marvelous; but it would have approached nearer to the idea of a miracle if Jonah had swallowed the whale.

AEV is a well dressed man.  I guess we’ve all swallowed a whale this week.

Great Range, from the well tailored business man, who can have a little fun with conversational accessories (Ties, Socks, Watches)  to the fun, relaxed effortless prep style we all know and love.

Now if I could only make a bracelet that served a purpose and get it on his wrist….  perhaps a bottle opener KJP?  Golf Ball marker button??

Thanks for this great week of posts Fred and to the others who contributed sending F.E. off to D.C.

Solid, preppy look. I love the whale belt and the tassel loafers. In fact everything. Great pic FEC. Well AEV you really nailed it this week.

    @gentlemensgent left a comment on 5/13/2011 at 9:21 AM:

Great week, great comments, but I am ambivalent to a certain extent.  These outfits are probably the most “wearable” in an everyday context, tasteful, well-fit, with a dash of character that makes them personal.  But, at the same time, I look to FEC to give us something with a bit more pop.  Give me madras shorts and a white blazer.  I like the site best when it highlights the inventive, those that define and expand prep by pushing its limits.

what’s with all the dc shots lately? as a fellow cleveland park’er, i have especially enjoyed the last few posts. if you’re still in the area, check out the recently opened restaurant medium rare. they only offer one meal, steak frites, but they do it well.
