    Dress Code

    Photographed in New York, NY

Noteworthy: braided leather belt, Dooney & Bourke bag, array of bracelets, pastel chino short, beautiful hair. If you're going to be milling about the city in the summer, you're going to sweat—dress for it. I appreciate this stripped down summer casual look because she still accessorizes in an informed manner that hints at prep roots (D&B bag, Wayfarers, canvas sneaker).

While the style displayed is undoubtedly one of aesthetic perfection, I am curious what good could be accomplished if all the resources here were diverted to efforts to improve the plight of my brethren in the ghettos of America? Simply a point to ponder.

As I mentioned on Tuesday I bit the bullet and purchased a pair of white bucks, you said resist in cleaning them, now having worn them for a day ( also driving in them ) they have several marks on them, are you saying you NEVER clean yours ? If you do can you please tell me what is the best way to do so ?
    Thanks.

Oh man, what a hottie! Love the legs, and hair, and shorts…! Dayum.

She should try a pair of Persols instead of the Raybans, which appear a tad too deep for her face. Gorgeous.

I find this type of figure very attractive (Bisexual, yes.), and it goes so well with her style. The sneakers are my favorite part! Anybody know the brand? I think I can barely make out “keds” on the side.

After frequenting this blog for close to a year, who would have thought I’d be making a comment on one the more unassuming looks. A pretty solid look none the less. You mentioned you had your denims altered, was it the length you had taken in? I find shortening the lengths loses the “finishing” on the hem. Whats your view?

Hilton left a comment on 7/7/2011 at 10:26 AM:

I’m fond of gingham, although the checks on your shirt are a bit too big. How do you feel about red gingham on most complexions? I’m considering this one from J. Press: http://www.jpressonline.com/dress_shirts_patterned_detail.php?id=1045REDM

    Thanks, Mr. Castleberry.

It would be fun to see what style you have. Thanks

I love that shirt. It looks great on everyone.

F.E. Castleberry left a comment on 7/6/2011 at 8:33 PM:

@NWR—These jeans are 501s that I had altered at Sid Mashburn when I bought them.  The indigo wash jean is a great dark jean substitute for selvedge come summer.

@Laguna Beach Fogey—Gingham is a quintessential summer fabric. It’s unfortunate you’ve banned it from your wardrobe.  These particular shoes are made by Allen Edmonds, so they are American.  I’d also challenge you to attempt the leather dress shoe sans sock and see what you think.

@Nate & Tito—This shirt is made by Polo Ralph Lauren.

NWR left a comment on 7/6/2011 at 8:20 PM:

Laguna Beach Fogey left a comment on 7/6/2011 at 6:13 PM:

    Awesome! Well done, FEC.

I’m not a fan of gingham in any form, but this looks good on you.

Your hairstyle is to die for.

I avoid wearing dress shoes without socks, but the shoes in the picture look quite light-weight, and possibly Italian-made, so I think it works.

Angel left a comment on 7/6/2011 at 3:07 PM:

Great look! The only issue I have finding a gingham Shirt in fun bright colors other than blue is that they are hard to come by to fit my long torso and monkey arms. I would like to have my shirts reach my wrist when un-rolled.

    Dress Code

    Photographed in New York, NY

Noteworthy: madras shirt, full strap British tan penny loafer, Shuron Escapades sunglasses. Chris, who runs Men of Habit, knows his way around color. It wouldn't have crossed my mind to pair pink chinos with that madras shirt—but he went for it. I learn something new about color every time I work with him. Notice the older gentleman also in madras with his lovely wife in a floral print top. It's for all ages.

Well Fred I did it, I bit the bullet and today bought a pair of suede bucks in white. I did ask my daughter if she thought I could carry them off first (she has been working at R.L. in London recently so I thought I could trust her advice). I wore them back home (as my other shoes were rubbing a bit) and I must say I am pleased with my purchase.
