@Chris—I do believe it is the “classic” blue oxford from Thom Browne.

Chris left a comment on 4/24/2013 at 5:07 PM:

Where did u get the shirt and which season is it? It’s not the typical light blue oxford from thom browne, is it?

Carlton R. Anderson left a comment on 10/5/2011 at 2:50 PM:

This oxford looks pretty solid. I especially like the navy grosgrain ribbon detail. It adds a sense of luxury to this alresdy classic item. Kudos to Mr.Browne

@B.L. Davis—The shirt is blue, albeit a pale shade of the colorway.  At this time, North Carolina is not on my agenda; however, that could change at a moment’s notice.

    B. L. Davis left a comment on 10/3/2011 at 5:59 PM:

@FEC - I cannot ascertain the color of the shirt.  I believe it’s my monitor.  Is it a blue or a gray OCBD?  On another note, are you going to be in North Carolina any time soon?  Would love to grab a drink if you’re in Wilmington.

  • An Apple a Day

    Dress Code

    Photographed in Scituate, RI

Noteworthy: over-sized sweater, dark rinse denim.

While the fashion industry continues to clamor over their new found love of our chinos, we preps could benefit from slipping on the American work-wear darling every now and then. I rarely catch this young lady in denim, and she looks so great in them. Keep them dark, slim through the thigh, and straight from the knee down.

Great photo.  I know that you try to get away from listing the maker of all of the clothes in the pictures you post, but if someone could give me an idea of where that sweater came from, I would love it.  I have been looking for a striped sweater like that for some time, with little luck.  I lived in a similar one when I was young.  I know that Michael Bastian featured one, but I cannot afford his stuff.  LL Bean’s have not looked as nice recently.

While it may not exactly be “in style” at the moment, light and medium washes are ideal “prep” options for men as well.

That’s pretty much THE perfect fall ensemble! Loving the boots… Where’s the sweater from?

Outstanding.  Agreed on the denim.  I for some reason went 1 year without wearing jeans, you know, since I wasn’t a carpenter or a blacksmith or whatever.  Stupid sartorial self-righteousness.  But I’ve enjoyed jeans a lot as a result.  Great photo.

@FEC When getting your jeans tailored, is your tailor able your tailor preserve the original chain stitch at the hem?

F.E. Castleberry left a comment on 9/30/2011 at 1:15 PM:

@Paul—Have you ever seen me with rolled jeans?  While I can appreciate it, I have too close of a relationship with my tailor to wear my denim rolled.  Rolling your denim achieves the same effect as breaking your denim (wearing your denim with a break)...they both do no favors to those who want the allusion of additional height.  The eye stops at the cuff or break as the eye travels from head to toe and vice-versa.

Paul left a comment on 9/30/2011 at 1:04 PM:

@FEC: the rolled jeans? I’m continually confused about your stance on this.

Solid look save the shirt and tie; cricket sweaters are a staple in any prep’s wardrobe and this one looks good.

The man’s got guts, I’ll admit that, bit overall somewhat poindexterish . . .

Ed left a comment on 9/29/2011 at 2:28 PM:

Love it (including the cricket sweater, which I thought was sort of the whole linchpin of the outfit), except the color of the bow tie. It’s too summer-y and the color fades into the shirt. A little pop of dark/fall color there would work great.

AEV left a comment on 9/29/2011 at 2:04 PM:

Remove that summer-y bow tie and that sweater and you’ve got a great outfit….

also noteworthy: the boat and tote in a lovely fall color scheme.

AEV left a comment on 10/2/2011 at 12:16 PM:

@FEC - to remind you, I asked if was a battery/quartz movement as opposed to stating that it was. But, my question/assumption is based on the photograph and style of the watch. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong - I only clued in on the watch since you called it out as ‘noteworthy’...and, in my humble opinion, no battery/quatz watch is ‘noteworthy’ (even if it’s from a high profile brand that makes a lot of high quality items…)

F.E. Castleberry left a comment on 10/1/2011 at 6:36 PM:

@AEV—What is your assumption that her Cartier is an entry level piece based on?

AEV left a comment on 10/1/2011 at 5:59 PM:

@Rake - certainly many Cartiers have mechanical/auotmatic movements, but I believe these entry level ones run on a Battery Operated Cartier Calibre 157 Quartz Movement….I only raise it because it’s always struck me as an amazing marketing coup that Cartier can sell quartz battery operated watches for $2000.00+....

Rake left a comment on 10/1/2011 at 12:48 PM:

No, they are automatics (at least the one we have is).

i like every thing she’s wearing but something about it seems off - i think i would have picked a different color leather for the wallet/shoes against that skirt. but all of the pieces are great.
